zh_TW
Under the influence of COVID-19, exercise at home has been promoted. Many organizations have developed virtual fitness trainer for older adults. Virtual fitness trainer are now increasingly equipped with monitoring systems to enhance the interactive experience of the apps and provide safety considerations for older adults. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the behavioral intentions of older adults towards the use of virtual fitness trainer, using the technology acceptance model as a theory, and the monitoring system as a moderating variable to investigate its moderating effect. 392 people were surveyed by questionnaire and 12 were interviewed semi-structurally. The main findings of the study were: 1.The older adults cared most about the exercise knowledge and social features provided by the virtual fitness trainer platform; 2.The positive association between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on behavioral intention was not significant, even if they found the virtual fitness trainer useful and easy to use, it did not influence their intention; 3.The monitoring system moderated the relationship between perceived “usefulness and attitude”, and “perceived ease of use and attitude” of the older adults, it confirmed that the monitoring system became a condition for evaluating the virtual fitness trainer, and the moderating effect of perceived usefulness and attitude was stronger. Practical suggestions: 1.The apps should be informative; 2.Increase opportunities for human contact; 3.Emphasize the usefulness of the monitoring system and add a prompt function for goal setting. Suggestions for future research: 1.Increase the actual intervention of the virtual fitness instructor to verify the difference between the experimental group who used the monitoring system and the control group who did not use the monitoring system; 2.Explore the difference between different social presence and coaching strategies on intention; 3.Use goal-setting theory and self-regulation theory to explore the impact of the monitoring system on users.en_US
