Abstract
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is one of the largest festivals in the world. It’s founded in 1947, in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It’s held at the same time as the Edinburgh International Festival in August every year. It attracts performers and audiences from all over the world and has developed into the largest trading platform of performing arts in the world. The story of Edinburgh Fringe Festival can back the 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up uninvited to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival. Because they were dissatisfied with the program selection system and only accepted high-art programs, they just went ahead and staged their show on the fringe of the festival, which was an open-access arts event that welcomes anyone to perform. And this coined the phrase the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.Launched in 2014, “Taiwan Season” is a subsidy program by the Ministry of Culture; to encourage Taiwanese performing arts groups to broaden their horizons by participating in international performances and increase the visibility of Taiwanese culture one the international arena. This program had been an ever-increasing ‘hot tip’ at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This study’s primary goals are to explore the relationship between the motivations of participating in Edinburgh Fringe Festival and organizational development; and to comprehend the challenges and subsequent development of Chang Dance Theatre during and after the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. From the research results to analyze the governance effects of government departments in international performance and the changes before and after the performing arts groups go abroad. The results may serve as a guide for the performing arts groups to prepare the international performance or develop the international performing arts market.
