Abstract

The term " Flowers Bloom And Wilt " resonates with the vitality of youth, splendid beauty, and fleeting moments. In the annals of art history, whether in the East or the West, works featuring flowers have carved a unique niche with their graceful forms, variegated colors, and singular allure. Flowers awaken a yearning for beauty and the pursuit of it; their loveliness and vibrancy reflect a microcosm of nature's finest.Flowers are so sought after and laden with meaning. Since ancient times, they've inspired scholars and literati from poetic musings to metaphorical associations and direct odes, making them an indispensable component in literature. The life cycle of a flower, from bud to bloom to withering, is marked by its conspicuous and swift transitions, serving as vivid metaphors for the vicissitudes of life. Through flowers, one perceives the philosophy that all beauty is transient and everything is fleeting in the grand scheme of nature. It's this cycle of life and death, flourishing and fading, that touches the soul at every stage, sparking a deep resonance and reflection on existence. This research aims to capture the dazzling yet transient nature of flowers, illustrating their ephemeral beauty. The dissertation is structured into four main chapters, each standalone yet interconnected, offering a comprehensive exploration of floral painting. The first chapter,"Introduction," sets the research framework, objectives, and questions, establishing the tone for the study. The second chapter, "Literature Review and Data Collection," dives into historical documents of floral art, gathering and analyzing a wealth of related artworks and literature to underpin the understanding of the evolution of florals in art history. The third chapter, "Comparative Imagery," contrasts floral paintings from different eras and cultures in the East and West, revealing the variances and connections in artistic styles and techniques, showcasing how artists have interpreted the same theme through diverse perspectives and methods. The fourth chapter,"Practical Creation," combines theory with practice, recording the author's exploratory journey in floral painting, demonstrating the process from theory to artistic creation, reflecting personal understanding and expression of flowers. In summary, by merging theoretical research with artistic creation, this study investigates the expressiveness and symbolic significance of flowers in painting, aiming to provide an artistic experience that enables the viewer to appreciate the beauty of nature andevoke deep reflections on life and time.
