This master’s degree vocal recital is centered on the theme of “love,” featuring eleven art songs and operatic arias spanning from the Baroque period to the twentieth century, presented in Italian, German, French, Spanish, and Chinese. Through the integration of diverse cultures and musical styles, the program illustrates the multifaceted nature and emotional dimensions of love across various eras and linguistic contexts. The selected repertoire includes iconic operatic arias such as “Piangerò la sorte mia” from Giulio Cesare by G. F. Händel (1685–1759), “Ach, ich fühl’s” from Die Zauberflöte by W. A. Mozart (1756–1791), “Caro nome” and “Tutte le feste al tempio” from Rigoletto by G. Verdi (1813–1901). The program also includes art songs such as “Der Hirt auf dem Felsen” by F. Schubert (1797–1828), “Sognai” by F. Schira (1815–1883), “Il Bacio” by L. Arditi (1822–1903), “Mandoline” by G. Fauré (1845–1924), “Villanelle” by Eva Dell’ Acqua (1856–1930), “Cuatro Madrigales Amatorios” by J. Rodrigo (1901–1999), and the Inner Mongolian folk song “The Yellow Oriole”(小黃鸝鳥). These works explore a wide emotional range—from sorrow, longing, and desire, to sweetness and romantic fantasy—reflecting the complex and intertwined nature of love. This written report provides a detailed analysis of each piece’s lyrics, musical structure, and vocal interpretation, contextualized with historical background and character emotions. By integrating the performer’s personal interpretive experience, this recital seeks to convey the many dimensions of love and highlight the profound expressive power of vocal music in articulating human emotion.
