Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the health promoting lifestyle among college students and to analyze the related factors. The subjects were freshmen and senior college students of a technical college in New Taipei City. A cross-sectional design was adopted and a self-designed questionnaire was used as research tool. A total number of 814 questionnaires were distributed and 770 valid questionnaires were collected with a response rate of 94.6%. The data was analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation and multiple regression. The results of the study are as follows: 1.The perceived health status for college students was moderate to good. 2.College students’ health conception was moderate to good, the highest score in health conceptions was the adaptive health conception, followed by function-role performance, clinical health conception, and eudemonistic health conception. 3.Among the self-efficacy for health behavior, the strongest efficacy was the psychological well being, followed by the health responsibility, exercise, and nutrition. 4.Among college students’ health-promoting lifestyles, the highest score item was interpersonal support, followed by self-actualization, stress management, nutrition, health responsibility, and exercise. 5.Among college students’ health promoting lifestyle, freshmen was better than senior. 6.There were positive correlations between self-perceived health status, health conception, self-efficacy for health behavior, and health promoting lifestyles. 7.The grade, health conception and self-efficacy of health behaviors combined could explain 64.7% of the total variance in health-promoting lifestyle.
