zh_TW
Hu Chang-Song, a Taiwanese novelist, published his first Chinese novel 《Tzaishan boy’s Requiem》(柴山少年安魂曲)in 1997 and《Skull Bar》(骷髏酒吧)in 2000. After getting acquainted with other Tâi-gí writers, he has started to write in Tâi-gí.At first, Hu Chang-Song’s novels were written in Mainland Chinese and the translated version in Tâi-gí. Later, since he became a Christian in 2004, his writing style has changed. His novels have been flavored by religious beliefs, such as 《The Big Harbor》(大港嘴, 2010)、《The Song of the Golden Island》(金色島嶼之歌, 2013), 《Resurrection Man》(復活的人, 2014), and his latest novel《The Ship: Huan-Ying-Hao ‘s mysterious trip》(幻影號的奇航, 2021), which is released last year. The change of his belief has breathed a light of hope into his novels.Recently, the novels of Hu Chang-Song have been highly valued and discussed by famous Tâi-gí scholars, such as Yaw-chien Fang ’s《The History of Taiwanese Language Literature and its Bibliography》(台語文學史暨書目彙編, 2012) and Yang-min, Lin’s《The History of Tâi-gí Novels and Works Commentary Collection》(台語小說史及作品總評,2012). In addition, the author found that in 2020, Hu Chang-Song’s novel《Resurrection Man》(復活的人, 2014)was the only Taiwanese novel selected in a column “The Raising Constellation of 21 Century” in the Wen-hsun-tsa-chih. It showed that the importance of the literature of Tâi-gí in this generation, and Tâi-gí literature should be paid attention to by Taiwanese literary arena. The novels of Hu Chang-Song have magical realism along with other Taiwanese novelists, including Chang Ta-chun、Lin Yao-de and Song Zelai. They focus on the issue of the history and local culture in Taiwan. Hu Chang-Song writes in Tâi-gí to express love for our country. Through describing The February 28 Incident and Wildlily Movement in his novels, he reveals his acceptance of belonging to be a Taiwanese and witnesses Taiwan's democracy. Furthermore, by employing magical realism, Hu Chang-Song creates our own world view. All in all, it displays that Tâi-gí novels, Taiwanese literature, and world literature are closely related to each other.en_US
