| zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | In recent years, the Macao government has implemented curriculum reforms in primary and secondary education to enhance students’ basic academic achievement. This study explores how Macao secondary school physical education teachers understand and implement the “Requirement of Basic Academic Achievement for Physical Education and Health,” providing insights for future curriculum implementation. The research involved qualitative interviews with two male physical education teachers from a school implementing the requirements and a survey of 45 physical education teachers to assess their understanding and experiences. Results: 1. Teachers understand and support the “Requirement of Basic Academic Achievement for Physical Education and Health,” seeing it as beneficial for students' knowledge foundation, future development, and Macao’s education system. 2. Implementation of the requirement has made students more engaged in physical education, with enriched curriculum, diverse teaching methods, and improved assessment. Teaching experience is key to successful implementation. 3. Challenges include insufficient teaching staff, high demand for teacher training, and difficulties integrating the requirements into teaching. School facilities and equipment issues also hinder implementation. 4. Teachers seek increased training, better teacher support, and changing societal views on physical education to highlight its broader impact. Recommendations: Offer teacher training courses online, and collaborate with sports federations to address the limitations of insufficient school sports facilities. | en_US |
