Abstract
There are two main industries in Chi-Feng Street, Taipei City. One is the used automotive parts industry, which includes parts retailing and repair shops; the other is the cultural and creative industry, whose industrial location choices and target customers are entirely different. These industries in Chi-Feng Street created a conflictual landscape. The thesis uses the perspective of new regional geography to discuss how the regional economic characteristic in Chi-Feng Street formed. To explain the interaction between different actors, between actors and the structure, and the production or reproduction that caused by the interactions, this paper attempted by interviewing different actors in Chi-Feng Street, analyzing the official documents published by Taipei City government, and examining the newspapers or books that record developing process about Chi-Feng Street and the surrounded region. From the research, the regional economic characteristics and the boundaries of Chi-Feng Street will continue to develop and change. The regional economic characteristics are shaped not only by individual actors or structures but by the numerous continuous interactions between human actors and non-human actors as well as the actors and the structure. The conflictual landscape reflects common urban characteristics in Taiwan, where various industries coexist in nearby neighborhood. It also reflects that regions are not restricted to specific boundaries; rather, boundaries are changeable. After all, regions are hybrid, not only shaped by actors but also by structure.
