Abstract
本研究旨在深入探討百老匯音樂喜劇“First Date”(本論文中翻譯為《第一次約會》,此後本文將全部採用中文翻譯名稱書寫)的相關內容,主要分為五個章節進行研究。在第一章中,研究動機闡述了研究進行的原因以及本研究的目標,而研究方法與架構則提供了進一步的研究框架。第二章進行文獻探討,首先關於《第一次約會》的創作源起、演出版本與得獎記錄、故事大綱以及創作者介紹,包括編劇和作曲家等。其次,探討了百老匯音樂喜劇的相關背景,從喜劇、音樂喜劇的起源和演變、到百老匯音樂喜劇的構成,以及浪漫音樂喜劇的特點。最後,介紹了百老匯首演版本的製作團隊。在第三章中,進行文本與角色分析。文本分析主要探討音樂劇的敘事結構和歌曲的背景、內容以及歌曲介紹。而角色分析則深入解析主要角色,包括凱西、亞倫和艾達奶奶等,著重在角色的喜劇詮釋手法、角色動機、臺詞線索以及與其他角色的關係。第四章進行歌曲分析與詮釋,分別對歌曲〈第一印象〉、〈適合你的女孩〉、〈更安全〉以及〈這將是永恆〉進行背景、歌詞和演唱方面的深入分析。最後,第五章結論部分對整體研究進行總結,闡明本研究在音樂喜劇角色分析與表演詮釋上的學術意義與實務價值。綜合而言,本研究以系統化的方式呈現對音樂喜劇《第一次約會》的全面性探討,為音樂喜劇研究和詮釋方法的深入理解提供參考。
This study aims to delve into the Broadway musical comedy “First Date” (translated in this paper as The First Date, with the Chinese translation used consistently throughout the text) and is organized into five chapters for comprehensive research.In Chapter 1, the research motivation explains the reasons for conducting the study, while the research objectives clearly define its goals. The research methods and structure provide a detailed framework to guide the investigation.Chapter 2 presents a literature review. It first explores the origin of“First Date,”its various performance versions, awards received, plot summary, and introductions to its creators, including the playwright and composer. This is followed by an overview of the historical background of Broadway musical comedy, including the origins and development of comedy and musical comedy, the core elements of Broadway musical comedies, and the defining features of romantic musical comedies. The chapter concludes with an introduction to the production team of the Broadway premiere version.In Chapter 3, text and character analyses are conducted. The text analysis focuses on the musical’s narrative structure and the background, content, and presentation of its songs. The character analysis offers an in-depth look at major characters such as Casey, Aaron, and Grandma Ida, focusing on comedic interpretation techniques, internal motivations, dialogue cues, and relationships with other characters.Chapter 4 engages in a detailed song analysis and interpretation, examining the context, lyrics, and vocal performance of selected songs, including“First Impressions,”“The Girl For You,”“Safer,”and“Something That Will Last.”Finally, Chapter 5 concludes the study by summarizing its key findings, elucidates the academic significance and practical value of character analysis and performance interpretation in musical comedy. Overall, this study offers a systematic and comprehensive exploration of “First Date,”contributing to a deeper understanding of musical theater and interpretative approaches within the comedy genre.
