In this thesis ,we study the optical properties for the one-dimensional photonic crystals(PCs) containing the single-negative materials. We use transfer matrix method(TMM) to investigate of photonic band structure and transmittance characteristic of 1D photonic crystal. There are three photonic crystal structures in our studies. First, we consider a filter structure, (AB)N ,where A=air ,B=single-negative material and N is the stack number. Second, we consider a filter structure, the Cantor set structure , (ABABBBABABBBBBBBBBABABBBABA)N, where A=single-negative material, B=air and N is the stack number. Third ,we consider a filter structure, (AB)NC(BA)NC(AB)N , where A and B are Dielectric material , C is single-negative material N is the stack number. And we change two type of parameters to observed changing in transmittance. The parameters are stack numbers and angles of incidence .
