Abstract
This thesis is the written report accompanying the prose collection It's Okay to Not Let Go, which explores a narrative form that interweaves prose, handwritten text, and illustrations. Through the practice of micro-publishing, the project presents the complete creative process from initial concept to final publication. Drawing from personal experiences, the author writes about themes such as love, friendship, the workplace, dreams, and the fear of separation. The text becomes a channel for emotional expression and self-healing, fostering a shared resonance with readers through everyday life experiences. The work combines three core elements: prose as a vessel for storytelling and emotion, handwriting as a tangible dialogue between author and text, and illustrations that extend the visual and emotional atmosphere. In terms of creation, the book breaks away from the conventional format of purely textual prose collections by juxtaposing images and words and embracing a handwritten aesthetic, offering a multi-sensory reading experience. In terms of publication, collaboration with an independent micro-publishing house reflects the possibilities for niche creators to realize publication under limited resources. Preliminary reader feedback suggests that the reading process evokes healing and emotional resonance, while also offering diverse perspectives on the book’s form and content—insights that may inform future creative and publishing endeavors.
