Abstract
Residential college is highly valued in institutions of higher learning in many countries because it could not only more completely integrate out-of-class experiences with in-class learning, but also provide intimate faculty-student interaction that engaging students in the learning process. Chengchi University is one of the first public universities with the set-up of the resident college in Taiwan since 2007. Despite the challenges along the way, the implementation of this resident college project sets a great example. This study, based on the experience of the researcher with residential college and general education and literature review, explores the background and process of carrying out ‘Chengchi College Project’ from 2007-2014. The factors relating to challenges faced over the course of the project and the solutions are also analyzed. Implications of Chengchi University’s experience are presented at the end of this study
