以概念圈融入九年級英文小說閱讀討論之情意課程方案:一個行動研究

Abstract
本研究採概念圈模式(Idea Circles)(Guthrie& McCann, 1996; Guthrie & Cox, 2001)觀點,並以原文小說與閱讀討論為教學內容及策略,以設計一門國中英語閱讀課程。透過此課程設計,本研究希望探討以概念圈進行英語閱讀討論之情意課程方案,提升班級氣氛與學習態度,包括「有序」、「關愛」、「合作」、「討論」與「探究」的班級氣氛,進而在學習態度其有幫助、喜歡程度、主動意願及信心上,皆能獲得進展。本研究採行動研究方式進行課程教學效果之檢驗,研究對象為九年級的學生(共32人)。以鄭克琳(2011)所編之「班級學習社群氣氛量表」測驗,在寒假期間開始第一次上課進行前測、下學期最後一次上課進行後測,並以成對樣本 t 檢定進行統計分析。此外,本研究亦使用學生的小日記、學習單、課後回饋心得、諍友意見、觀察記錄與研究者省思等方式,以充分了解學生對於上課內容的意見與感想。結果發現經過本研究情意方案的教學實施,學生不但在量化比較或質性內容分析結果,均顯示本課程以 Idea Circles 為教學模式,及以提昇班級氣氛及學習態度的課程設計,是得到預期回應的。尤其根據班級學習社群氣氛量表結果之進一步的分析,可發現班級氣氛的顯著進步,主要是發生在「有序」及「合作」二個分量表上,而學習態度的問卷結果,可發現學習態度的顯著提升,顯示使用概念圈在情意教學的應用上的確能提升某些班級氣氛與學習態度。本文亦舉例說明該課程之討論內容及教學過程,以供未來有興趣開設類似課程的教師參考。
The purpose of this study was to implement an affective education program in a 9th grade class to improve classroom climate and students’ learning attitudes. Traditionally, Taiwan’s English reading focused on learning for tests. Therefore, junior high students generally do not know what to get from English reading. However, the present study, applying Idea Circles in English novel reading, adopted Guthrie& McCann’s(1996)and Guthrie & Cox(2001)Idea Circles to design the curriculum. A series of classes using novel-readings and in-class discussions were designed. Through the action research, after a semester’s course administration, students achieved significantly higher scores in “discipline” and “collaboration” of classroom climate, and significantly higher scores in learning attitudes in English novel reading. Suggestions concerning the ways to design a curriculum for English novel reading in junior high were presented in the paper.
