Abstract
ABSTRACT The main purpose of this study was to explore internet accessibility and the retrieved cyberpower’s impact on the parent-adolescent power relationship. In order to have a mass and representative sample, this study use a quantitative research method with a supportive deep-interview method to verify the casual relationship between internet accessibility and the parent-adolescent power relationship. With the 2006 digital- divide survey report, the researcher separated Taiwan into three zones and used the hierarchical sampling method to select 1117 students from junior , senior high schools and vocational schools. The retrieved questionnaires were handled with Spss 11.0 window version for descriptive statistics, chi-squared test for variance, MANOVA, multiple regression. The main findings were as follows: 1.The differences of internet accessibility in gender and socio-economic status were reduced, but increased in the parent-adolescent digital divide and family type. 2.The purposes and applications of adolescent’s internet accessibility were directed to social purposes and applications. 3.The influence of gender in the parent-adolescent power relationship was approved. 4.The only child had the prevalence in the father-adolescent power relationship. 5.It’s difficult to break through the father-adolescent power relationship in high socio-economics status family. 6.The higher the identity power adolescent had, the higher agreement of the parent-adolescent power relationship. 7.The higher the resource exchange power adolescent had, the lower obedience of the mother-adolescent power relationship. 8.There was a significant difference in the parent-adolescent power relationship concerning the internet access time, purposes, applications and computer problem restore abilities. Finally, based on the findings, some suggestions for parents, researchers and family education staff were presented.
