Abstract

Art therapy is a process of spiritual transformation. During the creative process, the defensive psychology generated by negative emotions gradually dissipates, allowing inner peace to emerge. This study aims to explore the creative process of art therapy to guide urban women in paying more attention to their emotions and emphasizing emotional expression when facing negative emotions. By releasing inner stress and emotions through creation, self-healing can be achieved, further improving mental health and quality of life. The research objectives are as follows: (1) to collect and analyze literature on the theoretical foundations of negative emotions and art therapy; (2) to explore self-emotions and conduct researcher creation tests; (3) based on the above results, to conduct case studies of participants' creative experiences. The participants of this study are eight urban women who volunteered to participate. Their emotional states before and after the creation process were understood through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Using knitting yarn as a medium, participants engaged in creation through hand movements, feeling their bodies while soothing negative emotions to achieve a healing effect. The results of this study are as follows: (1) According to the "Emotion Scale" questionnaireset with 18 types of negative emotions, the most significant improvement was in"sadness," followed by "loneliness" and "rumination," and thirdly in "anger," "inferiority," "fear," and "anxiety." (2) Among the 18 types of negative emotions, the least improvement was seen in "changes in appetite" and "changes in sleep." (3) The most commonly used technique was "stacking," followed by "wrapping," and thirdly "weaving," with "extending" and "free-form" being the least used techniques. (4) There was no significant correlation between the "emotional state expressed during in-depth interviews" and the emotional state measured by the "Emotion Scale" before the test and the techniques chosen by the participants. (5) After the research and experience, participants' feedback was generally positive, with some participants expressing a desire to create again. The above indicates that the "Textile and Yarn Emotional Healing Creation" experience process has a positive impact on emotional healing.
