Abstract
Self- and peer- assessments are the approaches currently more recommended for classroom evaluation. However, due to the diversity and complexity of their procedures, limitations abound in conducting self/ peer assessment with pen and paper in the conventional classroom. Those constraints, such as inconvenience in presenting works, lack of efficiency in recording and compiling evaluating results, insufficient depth in peer interaction, and the inability to satisfy the requirement of diverse teaching arrangement, are likely to negatively impact the willingness and effects of applying self/peer assessments. Addressing the issue, this study aims to design a Web-based Self/Peer assessment System (Web-SPA), to provide teachers with a flexible interface for arranging various self- and peer-assessment procedures. The application effects of Web-SPA, which has been evaluated by several courses such as History, Hypermedia Design, and Educational and Psychological Measurement, are also discussed.
