Abstract

Education and health are the two most important characteristics of human capital. A number of studies have found positive associations between education and health, but the patterns of causality and effects of factors underlying these correlations are likely to be complex. Besides schooling, this paper tried to investigate the impact of on-the-job training and over-education on health. This paper uses two-stage recursive model to estimate the effect of schooling on health. Using the self-reported health status data, our results show that, working achievement effect on health is positive and significant, the effect of schooling on health is insignificant, on-the-job training has the same result, schooling cannot be proved to have a substantial productive efficiency on health. Dummy variable of over-education appears to have no measurable effect on the probability ofhealth.
