| zh_TW |
| dc.description.abstract | Objectives: This study aims to explore the associations among perceived behavioral control (PBC), behavioral intention, and physical activity (PA) behavior in Myanmar students studying in Taiwan. Additionally, it examines the associations between demographic characteristics—including age, gender, ethnicity, current education level, length of stay in Taiwan, city of origin in Myanmar, and parents’ education level—and physical activity behavior. Methods: Participants were Myanmar students currently studying in Taiwan. Data were collected via an online questionnaire distributed through social media platforms such as WeChat, Facebook, Instagram, and LINE. A total of 316 valid responses were obtained for subsequent analysis. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics and stepwise regression analysis to examine the associations among perceived behavioral control, behavioral intention, demographic characteristics, and physical activity behavior. Results: The results showed that perceived behavioral control was significantly positively correlated with physical activity behavior. Among the demographic characteristics,"current education level" was significantly negatively correlated with physical activity behavior, with Myanmar students holding a university degree or higher showing a significantly lower tendency to engage in physical activity compared to those with a high school education or below. Conclusions and Recommendations: This study’s results indicate that perceived behavioral control has a critical association with the physical activity behavior of Myanmar students studying in Taiwan, it shows a positive correlation, highlighting the importance of psychological factors in promoting physical activity. Additionally, the negative correlation between education level and physical activity suggests that as educational attainment increases, students tend to participate less in physical activity, possibly due to increased academic burdens or lifestyle changes. The findings provide a valuable reference for designing future health promotion programs targeting Myanmar students in Taiwan. It is recommended to strengthen perceived behavioral control to encourage sustained participation in regular physical activity, thereby improving quality of life and overall health. Future research should consider longitudinal designs and larger sample sizes to enhance representativeness and applicability, and further investigation into causal relationships among variables would deepen the practical value of physical activity in health promotion. | en_US |
