臺灣經濟作物相關地名之探討：以甘蔗、香蕉、鳳梨為例

Abstract

隨著教育部將地名納入108社會領域課綱，國中階段的地理學習內容即涵蓋了「臺灣的地名文化」的議題探究；其意味著具強烈人地互動色彩的臺灣鄉土地名文化越來越被重視。而在臺灣地名的研究上，尚未見到臺灣經濟作物所形塑的地名有系統性的調查，因此本文選擇在臺灣產量排名前三的經濟作物：甘蔗、香蕉與鳳梨，其形塑的地名作為標的，並藉以地理學的空間傳統觀點、以內政部建置的《地名資訊服務網》為主進行甘蔗、香蕉與鳳梨相關地名資料的蒐集、透過文獻分析法梳理地名、地名的語音與構詞的調查與分析、繪製地圖、以及田野調查等方法，希望能藉由臺灣經濟作物的地名調查與分析，而獲得有價值的成果。研究結果顯示：不論在語音與構詞、以現代化大型經濟作物加工廠為主所形塑的地名、或地名於地形、氣候與人文活動等的共時性探討與歷時性的變遷上，臺灣經濟作物相關地名皆展現出相當強烈的時與空間特性。在語音與構詞上，因應不同族群與音系社群的地名詞使用差異，而展現地名詞具強烈的空間分布特色；於地形上，不同經濟作物的相關地名，各有不同的分布偏好，且都是與該相關的經濟作物適宜栽種的地形為主；於氣候上甘蔗、香蕉與鳳梨相關地名的分布熱門區域，以北回歸線以南的熱帶氣候區為多，展現其亦同屬熱帶作物的「熱帶」意象。而地名的歷時性則反映出具變遷的地名，除了反映土地利用的變化，也是於空間脈絡的建構過程。透過此研究成果充分展現出：地名除了是人們對空間賦意的情感連結呈現，亦可讓人窺探出土地利用變遷的時序；因此在空間次序的建構上，地名實屬脈絡化的過程，同時也展現強烈的人地互動色彩。

Following the MOE’s incorporation of place-names into the 2019 Curriculum Guidelines for Social Studies, the Social Studies for junior high schools covers topics as well as exploration of the ‘Culture of Taiwan’s Place-Names’ indicating that the culture of Taiwan’s local names has been attracting more attention because of its significant man-land interaction. Due to the fact that there is not yet any systematic investigation conducted upon places named after local economic crops regarding the research on Taiwan’s place-names, this study adopted the viewpoints of spatial tradition in geography, selected the places named after sugarcane, banana and pineapple, i.e. Taiwan’s top three economic crops, as the research target as well as collected related data via the ‘Geo-Names Information Service Network’ established by the Ministry of the Interior, and further employed a variety of research approaches, such as combing through massive investigations and analyses upon place-names as well as their phonetic and morphological features, map drawing, conducting field studies, etc., hoping to acquire significant finding and yield valuable results.The finding shows that in terms of the names coming from the modernized large-scale economic crops among place-names and landforms, climates, human activities and so on. And they all display, both phonetically and morphologically, significant temporal and spatial characteristics. As far as phonetic and morphological features are concerned, characteristics bearing significant spatial distribution have been identified corresponding to how differently place-names have been used by different ethnic groups and phonological csynommunities. As far as landforms are concerned, place-names related to different economic crops not only display different distribution with different preferences, but also appear to be right landforms suitable for growing the crops in question. As far as climates are concerned, the most place-names related to sugarcane, banana and pineapple distributed within the tropical climate zone south of the Tropic of Cancer exhibiting the image of ‘Tropics’ as they are indeed crops of tropical regions. The diachrony in question reflects the place-names that have been changed showing not only the change of land use, but also the constructing process of spatial context.The result fully shows that in addition to presenting the emotional connection people establish with space marking, place-names also enable people to peek the temporal sequence of the change of land use. In light of that, as far as the establishment of spatial order is concerned, plece-names not only can be identified as the process of contextualization, but also can display significant man-land relationship.
