Abstract
多元文化起源於西方多族裔的社會，強調不同文化的共存共榮。在臺灣建構
出四大族群後，多元文化已經成為緩和社會對立的政治正確意識。本文首先闡述
多元文化的意義，其次分析臺灣多元文化主義的發展，以及多元文化教育在臺灣
的困境，最後論述公共圖書館應如何回應多元文化的精神。
Multiculturalism, developed in multi-ethnic societies in western countries, has become a political correctness for decreasing conflicts among different groups. This paper aims at exploring the meaning and development of multiculturalism and its implications for multicultural services of the public libraries in Taiwan.
