Abstract
在性別兩極化與性別模糊並存的時代,筆者對於性別認知的對立感到相當好奇,性別刻板印象是否仍然是社會上的定律?性別運動與設計思潮的共同點在哪裡?性別的演進要如何從創作者的角度加以詮釋並且讓觀者得以自醒。
本研究藉由文獻探討以及資料分析發現性別認知有三個階段的演進,分別為:傳統的性別差異,到性別顛覆錯置,到性別消失的多元文化年代。
許多因為了不同企圖而秉持不同性別認同的人,導致這個時代的性別似乎容易劃分又模糊,而在創作上與性別運動有著相同哲學概念的後現代運動,也成了本研究的創作策略。傳統性別差異之視覺效果需要二極化的符號來營造,涉及層面包含東西方的哲學、社會學、藝術等等;而後現代的多元思潮發展時,性別選擇成為人們證明自己的個體特色的一個抒發媒介,性別顛覆的視覺效果仍需要建立在性別刻板印象的符號變化上;性別消失的意象,則建立在個體差異被突顯之上,所以創作部份則與每個觀者(個體)有所互動,企圖讓觀者從中找到屬於自己的性別信念。
In the era which both gender polarity and gender-ambiguous coexist, the author is curious about the evolution of the extreme opposing cognition of gender. Does the gender stereotype still dominate over the society? What are the common grounds between the gender reform and the trend of design? How should the evolution of gender to be renovate from the creator’s angle in order to awaken the society? In this research, the methods of literature review and data analysis are used to discover the three stages of gender cognition ,which are as follow:the tranditional gender polarity, gender subversion, and the vanishment of gender in this multicultural age. Different attempts cause different gender cogniton, which also make the gender cognition in a society distinctly, but sometimes be in a state of confusion. As standing for the same philosophic conception, a refusal of the totalizing or essentialist tendencies of earlier theoretical systems, the character of post-modernism is regarded as the policy in this gender research. The visualization of tranditional cognition of gender, gender polarity, is form by extreme antithetic gender symbols which involve the essence of Eastern and Westerns’ philosophy, sociology, art and so on. Not until the development of Multiculturalism appears, has the issue of gender disparity to be discussed again, and becomes one of the mediator to expresses one’s distinguishing feature. The visual creation of gender subversion is an appropriation of oppsing gender symbols. As the individuals’distinctive charasteristic becomes more appearent, gender polarity has nearly vanished in now days. The interactive creation of the gender-ambiguous stage leads the society to find its own gender belief.
