本文就台灣與美國的資優教育計畫加以比較;除從制度沿革加以對照外,也從參與資優教育的教師的觀點加以比較。本文訪問的兩國的資優班教師,並將教師對其計畫的檢討對照於論文中。參與本研究的教師,包括21位台灣小學教師,以及53位紐約都會區的小學教師;本研究的主旨,在探討兩國相關計畫的結構和優缺點、 評鑑教育績效的法規、資優學生的態度及其讀書習慣、資優方案的教師、以及教師如何針對特殊學生準備教學。
