四分之一個世紀之前,Howard Gardner率先提出多元智能理論。他批判標準IQ理論,主張人類實際上擁有數種獨立的智能:語言、邏輯數學、空間、音樂、身體動覺、人際、內省智能, 或許還加上存在智能。每個人都擁有這些智能,但是每人的能力優勢與弱勢剖面圖又各自不同─不論是從基因或是經驗的觀點來看。以下Gardner將回顧有關 多元智能和資優教育的不同主張。他將會辯護他的主張:智能─不論是個別的或是共同的─交織出一個人類智慧能力的多樣面貌,遠比一般人所了解的還要多樣化。
