Item 公共圖書館與地方文獻資料服務(國立台灣師範大學圖書資訊研究所, 1998-04-??) 陳仲彥; Chung-yen ChenThe public library needs to be a main research library and information center concerning its own locality. So it is the duty of the public library to collect, organize, preserve local documents collections in order to be uetimdely used by patrons. This article mainly comprises five sections: public libraries and the acquistions of local documents collections, public libraries and organii- zations of local documents collections, public libraries and the preservations of local documents collections, public libraries and the services of local documents collections, the cooperation of public libraries and other institutions on local documents collections. The author regards it is a meaningful issue to discuss the relationship between public libraries and the local documents collections.Item 資訊商品化(國立台灣師範大學圖書資訊研究所, 1998-10-??) 葉乃靜; Nei-Ching YenTraditionally, public libraries provide services to public without fee, because one of their missions is to provide free access to information. Today, that mission seems imperiled. Many people insist that information is a valuable commodity, and users must pay for its fare use. The purpose of this paper is to raise the issue of the information commodity and its effects on public libraries. Also, by the discussion of the functions and roles of public libraries, this paper intends to help public libraries in deciding their fee or free policy making.Item Enriching Chinese Cultural Heritage at the Queens Library(國立台灣師範大學圖書資訊研究所, 2001-10-??) Gary E. StrongThe Queens Borough Public Library through its New Americans Program has been providing opportunities for the Chinese Community to experience quality library service for many years. By building collections, providing opportunities to learn English, providing job information, coping skills classes, cultural programs and electronic access to Chinese vernacular script, the Library provides a unique public library experience to its many immigrants. Through demographic analysis, the Library places its collections in the communities where immigrants live and provides programs of relevance to celebrate the cultures and traditions of the Chinese community.Item 臺灣地區公共圖書館共用資料庫之建置與共享(國立台灣師範大學圖書資訊研究所, 2001-04-??) 賴麗香; Li-Hsiang Lai教育部「加強公共圖書館建設五年計畫」於民國88年度補助公共圖書館建置共用資料庫，主要目的是透過「由一館統一購買多館共用之資料庫使用權」，建置公共圖書館電子資料庫查詢系統，供各級公共圖書館透過WWW提供全國民眾查詢及利用，以便縮短城鄉資訊利用差距、促進民眾終身學習為目標，並藉由合作共享，節省圖書館人力與經費，發揮整整體體效益。 本文主要介紹「公共圖書館全國共用資料庫」的緣起、內容、授權使用、系統建置、運作模式、推廣利用、資料庫使用情況等，最後作者針對共用資料的建置與推廣利用所發現的問題提出討論與建議，以就教先進。
