The study investigates how young lesbians use their clothing to express their personality and position themselves while developing their sexual identity. It also examines the impact of body image and clothing management on gender expression. Additionally, the research aims to explore whether lesbians conform to traditional gender norms while expressing their personal and gender characteristics in dating or same-sex relationships. The study recruited nine young lesbians aged 21 to 31 for in-depth interviews, using a semi-structured interview approach for data collection. Grounded theory was adopted to analysis the data. The research findings can be identified into two key aspects. Firstly, participants' appearance management and gender expression are still influenced by the gender binary, but in a more flexible way. Gender expression no longer rigidly adheres to traditional masculine and feminine characteristics. Hairstyle, clothing, body curves, and height, which are influenced by the individual's self-identity, provide the variety of expressions. Secondly, during same-sex interactions, participants tend to employ a binary role-playing approach in the "public domain" to quickly communicate their lesbian identity. However, in the"private domain," interactions are less constrained by gender frame, allowing for greater flexibility as relationships progress.性別氣質服飾外觀女同志交往sexual temperamentclothing appearancelesbians dating服飾外觀、性別氣質與同性交往間的關係:以年輕女同志為例Exploring the Role of Clothing Appearance in Lesbians' Gender Identity and Dating: Using Young Lesbians as Examples學術論文
