The report contains sevenchapters. The author first presents the motivation and research methods in Chapter One, and explore the background of Legally Blonde by examining the value and the social phenomenon of American culture in Chapter 2, which helps the author be empathetic about the difficulties the character is facing and understand the historical background of the play. Chapter Three gives a brief overview of the musical Legally Blonde and its adaptation, introduces the lyricist, composer, director and choreographer, and compares the differences between these versions. Chapter Four analyzes the script and the show as a whole, with respect to the characters, the story, and the music, while Chapter Five focuses on the analysis of the leading females, Elle Wood. By investigating the clues in the script, the author observes these characters’ backgrounds, images, and relationships with other characters. The interpretation of songs sung by leading actresses is covered in Chapter Six, including “Omigod You Guys,” “Serious,” “What You Want,” “Positive,” “Serious-Reprise,” “Run Rufus Run/Elle Reflects,” “So Much Better” and “Legally Blonde,” “Legally Blonde Remix,” “Omigod You Guys-Remix,” and “Find My Way/Finale,”.
