First, Bloch brought the imagination of utopia and the hope in religious activities back to Marxism and wanted to extend the limitation of the historical materialism in traditional Marxism. Bloch used the concepts of ‘not-yet’,‘The spirit of utopia’, ‘concrete utopia’, and ‘hope’, a profound exploration of the possible reality of utopia, to updates traditional Marxism and reconstruct an openly Marxist Philosophy theory. Thus, This study adopts the theoretical analysis method and the interpretive research method of documents. And the value of this study is to answer the following these questions:1. What is the meaning and function of Ernst Bloch’s The Spirit of Utopia and the philosophy of hope? 2.
