賴慈芸Lai, Tzu-Yun羅安安Lo, An-An2025-12-092024-11-302024https://etds.lib.ntnu.edu.tw/thesis/detail/a930b9a7a1648e35580ecb9dad9d9302/http://rportal.lib.ntnu.edu.tw/handle/20.500.12235/1250931950年代起,臺灣多家出版社推出世界兒童文學選集,引介外國經典兒童文學讀物給臺灣的兒童讀者。由於兒童文學的讀者特性,這些作品在翻譯時多半經過改寫,譯寫作品也在潛移默化中形塑臺灣孩童對外國文學的看法。法國作家儒勒.凡爾納(Jules Verne)於1873年出版的作品《環遊世界八十天》(Around the World in Eighty Days,法文原名:Le tour du monde en quatre-vingt jours)因情節生動又富含史地知識,常收錄於這些選集中。此書成書於大英帝國殖民時期,隨著文中角色至世界各地旅行,作者也向讀者介紹殖民歷史與各地風土民情,這些描寫也會隨著中文版的出版,有所保留或改寫。過往討論凡爾納作品時,常聚焦在科幻小說的論述之中,本研究則是討論1958-1993年臺灣出版社所出版之六個《環遊世界八十天》中文譯本(五本單行本及一個雜誌連載系列)及其根據的日本中介本和香港版本,文中也針對各版本之附文本進行研究,歸納出作品皆帶有教育兒童的理念。而在內容改寫上,本研究也詳盡比對文本,發現中介本或翻印底本在殖民、宗教、種族、成癮物質等議題上多採取較保守的態度,大量刪減原文中的描述,轉而加強人物刻畫,讓角色形象變得更立體。這些改寫多為中文譯者所接受,完整轉譯至中文。經過中介版及中譯處理後的《環遊世界八十天》遭到大量刪節,變成單純強調故事中的冒險情節,使閱讀中文兒童版的讀者無法得知《環遊世界八十天》的原貌,更剝奪了兒童讀者反思與討論的空間,與其強調教育意義的初衷存在不小的落差。Since the 1950s, many Taiwanese publishers have published series of world literature for children. The works have often been adapted or rewritten for the readership of children’s literature, and the adaptedworks affected countless Tai-wanese children’s perspectives toward foreign literature. French writer Jules Verne’s work Le tour du monde en quatre-vingt jours (1873), usually translated as Around the World in Eighty Days, has often been included in these series due to its exciting plot and rich depictions of history and geography. The work, written dur-ing the British Victorian period, shows many aspects of colonization and culture to its readers through the experiences of its traveling characters. These elements have been partially retained and partially rewritten during the translation into Mandarin.Past research on Verne’s works has often focused on their scientific aspects. This research examines six versions of Around the World in Eighty Days published between 1958 and 1993 (five books and one magazine series), all of which were translated or reprinted from Hong Kong or Japanese adaptations. Through the ex-amination of the paratexts, it becomes evident that educational purposes are in-cluded in all of the adaptations. Upon close examination of the texts, this research discovers that the Hong Kong and Japanese adaptors tended to tone down or elimi-nate elements related to colonization, religion, race, and substance addiction. In-stead, the adaptors opted to make depictions of the characters more vivid. These manipulations were done by the Hong Kong and Japan adaptors, while the transla-tors in Taiwan accepted and rendered these manipulated versions with only a few modifications.
