Shuli's Weather On the Go, a news weather segment, is the biggest breakthrough in the researcher's career in weather broadcasting and a veritable emblem of the researcher's commitment in bringing meteorology to everyday life. This study takes the ten-year period from 2011 to 2021 of Shuli's Weather On the Go as the research topic. Adopting a qualitative approach of document analysis and narrative inquiry, the origin and broadcasting style of Shuli's Weather On the Go are explored. Using eight distinctive locations in the four seasons as examples, the study also looks into the promotional effect of the weather segment on local tourism and local farmers, and discusses the process of transforming Shuli's Weather On the Go into a platform for public welfare. Starting from real personal experience, the researcher contextualizes her footprints over the course of these ten years. Interviews with 25 research participants enable the understanding of how Shuli's Weather On the Go has helped the interviewees by learning their thoughts. This study finds that by venturing out of the studio, the innovative format of Shuli's Weather On the Go has realized its mission of bringing meteorology to everyday life. Visiting 143 villages and towns in the 477 on-location broadcastings, the show has traveled deep into the local areas, up the mountains and down to the seas. The camera follows what flowers and agricultural products are in season, authentically relaying in real-time to the audience the impact of the weather on daily lives. The tourist and economic benefits generated by Shuli's Weather On the Go have injected new life into local tourism, allowing the public to witness the people and cultural wonders in various corners of Taiwan. The segment has subsequently spun off Shuli's Charity On the Go that spreads love by tapping into the support of the audience to offer assistance to disadvantaged members of the society, connecting people through love. Shuli's Weather On the Go is considered the researcher’s magnum opus in charting a new path in weather forecast broadcasting. From breakthrough to realizing the vision, the feedback and rewards gained from the ten years of dedication have given a different meaning to the researcher’s life. It also demonstrates the important impact and social responsibility of journalism.
