Abstract
The concept of monitoring physical load in basketball has been introduced to enhance team and individual competitiveness. Basketball requires athletes to possess various physical qualities, but it also comes with the risks of muscle fatigue, injuries, and overuse. Therefore, sports technology has become an important tool for monitoring the player's load, which can reduce the risk of injuries and improve actual performance. This study aims to utilize a combination of Local Positioning System (LPS) and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) motion tracking system to measure, evaluate, and analyze the differences and applications of various parameters related to the physical load of basketball players during training and official competitions. A total of 20 players from the largest basketball sports education institution (EMPOWER) Basketball Training at the U12 level, were recruited as participants. The experimental data were collected using Goalgo T1 and analyzed to examine the parameters between basketball training and competition. Significant differences were observed in terms of physical load and specific movement frequency between basketball training and competitions, indicating higher intensity in competitions compared to training sessions. The findings confirm the differences in intensity between basketball training and competitions, suggesting the need to adjust the physical load and intensity based on different contexts to ensure that players compete at an appropriate training level. Recommendations are made to address the identified limitations and enhance the practical application of training.
