Abstract: 研究動機與目的一、研究動機:過去二、三十年來的科學教育研究及科學課程的特色是什麼呢?以當時發展出來的課程如美國的生物科學課程研究(Biological Science Curriculum Study, B.S.C.S.),沙巴課程(Science A Process Approach, SAPA)以及英國的納菲課程(Nuffield)等來分析,可以肯定心理學的理論及其量化研究取向,是過去的特色,其實也是今日的主流。今天的學者們發現,科學教育有相當明顯的性別差異現象,無論是科學成就、對科學的態度、興趣等方面。但這方面的研究多半不以性別為主要的探討因素,只在統計時順便分析一下,於是雖有性別差異的發現,但卻未能統整的加以說明。因此性別差異的事實,在科學教育的研究中很少統整的、鉅觀的解釋,國外如此,國內也有此缺失。性別差異的探討,涉及非常多的問題,從哲學上來分析,男女性是否在理性思考方面有所不同,女性是否比較不客觀;從社會學來分析,性別差異的變遷情形如何,當前社會有何種型態的性別差異;從心理學來分析,今日有相當多這方面的研究,但是否理論解釋能完滿說明,實證資料又應如何統整;整體來看,從社會的個體發展而言,性別差異是否造成不公平且減少了某些人的成長機會。透過各方面的探討可以幫助我們對性別差異有更深入、更統整的瞭解。從哲學、社會學、心理學可以幫助我們瞭解整體的性別差異狀況,而後專門針對從科學教育中性別差異進行分析,或可全面掌握科學教育中性別差異的性質。我們面對這這問題時,應辨明至今存在的性別差異事實為何?國內是否亦有相似狀況?造成這種現象的可能原因何在?可否建立鉅觀的解釋?這種現象在科學科教育上的意義為何?這些問題的解答,將可開拓了科學教育及教育研究的領域。二、研究目的:經由研究動機部分的討論,本研究企圖達成之目的有下列三項:1.明瞭科學教育中性別差異之現況。2.分析科學教育中產生性別差異的原因。3.提出科學教育中性別差異的解釋。
The major purpose of this paper is to explore sex differences in science education. Through a theoretical analysis of related research literature on both boys and girl's achievement of science, attitudes to science and science course selection as well a sex bias in science teachers and science curriculum, this paper comes to a conclusion that, indeed, there are sex differences in science education. Male students' are better in achievement of science, attitudes to science than female student;they also outnumber female students in science course selection. In addition, there is a sex bias of science learning for male students in science teachers and science curriculum. Sex differences in science education may be caused by the factors of personal science─related experiences, spatial ability and male images of science and scientist. From this point of view, it is reasonable for us to construct in integrated model with these three factors to interpret the sex differences in science education. For further research, we need to study some rooted factors such as culture, general ability and substance of science, to justify their influence on sex differences in science education.
