A Study on the Vocational Self-Concept and Learning Attitude of the Practical Skill Program Students at Vocational High Schools－in Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Keelung City
Practical skill program
The aim of this research is to analyze the present vocational self-concept and learning attitudes of practical skill program students with various backgrounds in Taiwan. In order to compare the differences between these variables, 1,161 participants were requested to respond to a survey, designed to assess their vocational self-concept and learning attitudes, and further analyze the correlation of vocational self-concept and learning attitudes. A total of 1,161 questionnaires were issued with 937 valid questionnaires collected from practical program students at vocational high schools in Taipei City, and New Taipei City, and Keelung City. Student responses to survey items are analyzed using a number of statistical techniques, including frequency distribution, percentage, average, standard deviation, Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation. Results are listed below: 1.The present vocational self-concept of practical skill program students is high-intermediate level. 2.The present learning attitudes of practical skill program students are intermediate level. 3.Statistically significant associations on vocational self-concept were found among practical skill program students in terms of three factors: individual, family and school. 4.Statistically significant associations on learning attitudes were found among practical skill program students in terms of three factors: individual, family and school. 5.There is a significantly positive correlation between the vocational self-concept and learning attitudes. Based on the conclusions above, recommendations are made to academic administrators, faculty members, students, parents and researchers who are interested in realizing vocational self-concept and learning attitudes of practical skill program students.
