院成立於民國44年,歷經50餘年的銳意發展,目前設有國文、英文、歷史、地理、臺文等5個學系、翻譯和臺灣史2個獨立所,以及全球華人寫作中心和國際臺灣學研究中心。除臺史所僅設碩士班,其餘6個系所均設有碩、博士班;目前專兼任教師近250人,學生約2500餘人。

本院早期以培養優秀中學國文、英文、歷史和地理教師為鵠的,臺灣中學語文和史地教育的實踐與成功,本院提供不可磨滅的貢獻。近年來,本院隨師範體系轉型而調整發展方向,除維持中學師資培育的優勢外,也積極朝理論研究和實務操作等面向前進。目前,本院各系所師培生的教師檢定通過率平均在95%以上;非師培生在文化、傳播、文學、應用史學及環境災害、地理資訊系統等領域發展,也已卓然有成。

本院各系所教師的研究能量極為豐富,參與國內外學術活動相當活躍。根據論文數量、引用次數等指標所作的學術力評比,本院居人文領域全國第2名。各系所之間,無論是教師的教學與研究,或學生的生活與學習,都能相輔相成、榮辱與共,彼此渾然一體,足堪「為師、為範」而無愧。

    臺北盆地的降雨特性及與水文災害關係的研究(1)

    With generous support of the National Science Concil, the phase-I study of the underlined research topic has been successfully executed (project No. NSC78-0202-M003-04). In the past year, the research group established a rainfall monitoring network with 21 continuous-recording stations. The sampling period is set to 10-minute and the rainfall data is automatically recorded onto an electronic device for further analysis. As the first report, this paper mainly introduces the domain of the research as: (1) The time-spatial variation of the rainfall in Taipei Basin, (2) The spatial representation of Taipei Meteological station, (3) The urban effects on the rainfall pattern in Taipei Basin, (4) By the water balance method of one heavy rainfall, to discuss the urban flood and inundation of the urbanized area in terms of rainfall intensity, Maximum runoff, surface detention inundation, etc. For increasing the rainfall resolution in the horizontal dimension and coverring a wide area encompassing the whole Taipei Basin and its outskirts, the research group will set up 20 additional rain guage stations. It is expected that through this integrated study with various inundation cases, some effective suggestions can be achieved for the improvement of the existing pumping/sewerage system and for better control of the urban flood runoff and inundation problems in Taipei Basin.

    臺北盆地周緣坡地的坡度與土地利用

    This paper attempts to analysis the relationship between slope and land use in the slopeland around Taipei Basin with an area of 222.88 km2. About 140,000 measurements of slope and land use in this research are obtained from air photos, topographic maps of 1:5000, maps of land use in 1964, 1974, 1984 and field excursion. The data show the changes in area of each type of land use during 1964-1984, from which the expansion of Taipei metropolitan area can be realized quantitatively. For instance, the area of paddy field was decreasing through those 20 years due to enlarging of the urban area. The results indicate the land use of slope lands have been impacted under the influence of slope's restriction, public policy and economic consideration. If the administrative district can not be enlarged to fit the step of urban expansion, the environment of slopeland around Taipei Basin will be impacted more rapidly and deeply.

    華江高地是否存在?

    本研究採用淺層反射震測法調查台北盆地第三紀基盤構造,經四年來,累積約100條測線記錄,並配合鑽井資料,已大致可描繪出第三紀基盤形貌。台北盆地之基盤以崁腳斷層之延線為界,劃分為西北-東南兩半,西北半部基盤可深達400公尺,主要朝向新莊斷層方向變深。東南半部基盤受到古新店溪切割,在台北市區底下較深,向兩側麓山帶逐漸變淺。利用板橋、中和、萬華一帶密集的震測測線,即與地調所板橋退輔會井資料比對,可追蹤此一地區之地層,結果顯示華江高地並不存在。

    臺北盆地動態環境的綜合研究

    Taipei Metropolitan is the center of population, economics, transportation, settlement and politics in Taiwan and has an important position. There are many findings obtained from related studies including not only long-term observation and manifold ways of control, but also more than one hundred published reports. Yet, there is still a lack of synthetic studies and diagammatization. This study is a continuation to our research group's first year work: “A Synthetic Study on the Dynamic Environment of Taipei City”, and to match with the expansion proposal of Taipei Administrative District. In this way, the study area has been increased from Taipei City to Taipei Basin in our second year. This project expands the survey and study of environmental basis, environmental destruction and environmental improvement to establish a geographical information system data bank. Major points are chosen for illustration with diagrams. This result will provide reference for regional development and environmental conservation, and also an example for future research in whole Taiwan region.
